Une association franco-indien
Il y a toute une communauté indienne vivante et très active aux alentours de Paris (et je ne parle pas de Passage Brady!). Je suis allée a Buc (près de Versailles) pour donner une conférence a une groupe de réflexion franco-indienne, une groupe que je déjà connais. Madame Badrinath la fondatrice a crée cette groupe il y a 16 ans. Avec plus de 150 membres celle-ci réunit une fois par mois autour d’une lecture public ou un événement culturelle. La première fois quand je suis allée pour une réunion le temps était consacré à la musique classique indienne. La groupe fais ses réunions soit en anglais soit en français selon l’invitée. J’étais présente pour une conférence sur Derrida par Denis Kambouchner et aussi pour une autre de Mr. Krishnan sur les Puranas. Je me rejouis de retrouver la groupe et surtout Les Badrinath (photo au-dessous). Mr. Badrinath habite en France depuis 50 ans et depuis sa retraite et aussi très active dans l’association. Ce couple m’inspire toujours avec leur volonté et leur engagement. Le prochain projet de Madame Badrinath est la création d’un centre culturel indien en France. Je la souhaite tout le succès.

It is womderful to see the three of you in the photo.
I first met Mrs. Badrinath in 1988 but I have no clear memories of the few times I met her in that period of our stay in Paris. The reason could be - I was still finding my feet in a foreign country and blundering through other new experiences, including that of being a mother.
In 2003,during our second posting in Paris,when I saw Mrs. Badrianth from a distance at a reception, I instantly knew that she was someone I had met before. I walked up to her, introduced myself, and she was charming and friendly. After that I got to know her better by and by and got several opportunities to see her dynamic contribution in many areas. What I have grown to admire most in her is her impassioned involvement in anything she takes up, her heartwarming willingness to help those who turn to her for advice and support, and her willingness to give diverse ideas and concepts a fair hearing.
The contribution of some individuals can be enumerated and described in concrete terms while hers goes beyond any confining categories. Whenever my faith in life and myself has been feeble, I have mentally evoked her image to regather my strength. She and her husband are doing remarkable work in their association. I wish them both and their work the very best.
